What we believe
This paper is an attempt to briefly describe my major beliefs as a Baptist believer. It is by no means an exhaustive list of all my beliefs, but briefly highlights and describes where I stand on several of the major fundamentals of the Bible.
- We believe in the absolute authority of the holy scriptures. We believe the original manuscripts were given by inspiration of God and were without error. We believe the God who gave His word to man has taken upon Himself the responsibility for its preservation. This Bible is our final authority in all matters. (II Timothy 3:16-17)
- We believe in one God eternally existent as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Exodus 20:2-3; Matthew 28:19)
- We believe God to be the creator and sustainer of all things, visible and invisible. We believe the universe and all that is therein to be held together by the word of His power. (Gen. 1-2; John 1)
- We believe the Lord Jesus Christ to be God manifest in the flesh, virgin born, without sin, crucified, risen and coming again. (John 1, Luke 1-2, II Corinthians 5:21, Luke 24:6-7, Acts 1:11)
- We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ, and has nothing to do with human works or merit of any kind. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- We believe the saved child of God is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ, and is sealed, taught and comforted by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption. (II Corinthians 1:22)
- We believe in the local church, which consists of a group of baptized believers, whose purpose is to carry out the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:16-20)
